Short trips from Singapore

Rest-day and short-leave guides for nearby places — what you need, how to go, food, sights, and rough SGD budgets. Partner links may earn this free app a referral fee.

Before you leave Singapore

Use this checklist for every trip, even a day trip to Johor.

  • 1Get clear leave approval from your employer (written if possible).
  • 2Passport usually needs at least 6 months validity for many destinations.
  • 3Carry your work pass / FIN card and a phone photo of both sides.
  • 4Plan SGD + local cash or a travel card; avoid handing cash to unknown “agents”.
  • 5Decide how you will use data abroad — local SIM or a travel eSIM.
  • 6Know your return ferry/bus/flight time so you are not stranded overnight without leave.
  • 7Bring a power bank — maps and ferry tickets drain the phone.
  • 8Save employer and one trusted contact offline (screenshot).
  • 9For overnight trips, book a hotel in Agoda/Trip.com before you leave; for day trips, lock your return time.

Trip mistakes that cost money or your job

  • Leaving without employer approval — can put your work pass at risk.
  • Flying or ferrying with a passport that is almost expired.
  • Carrying only cash and losing it with no card or e-wallet backup.
  • No return plan — expensive last-minute ferry or bus.
  • Paying a stranger who promises “visa + ticket package” with no receipt.
  • Arriving at night with no hotel booking and no data to search.

General travel tips only — not immigration, legal or financial advice. Visa rules for Myanmar passports differ by country and change often. Confirm with embassies, ICA and your employer before you go.
